Fahrenheit 9/11

When this movie came out, I pledged that I would not pay money to see it. However, it is now out on DVD so I ordered it through Netflix. Although I kind of knew what to expect, I had never seen a Michael Moore movie before so I didn't know for sure.

As I was watching the movie, I was reminded of something that I have seen before too often in real life: A dishonest trial lawyer who intentionally attempts to distort the meaning of certain evidence and who simply ignores or denies the existence of contrary evidence all in the hope of a convincing a gullible jury to reach a certain conclusion.

The movie essentially charges George W. Bush with treason. After seeing this movie, I now better understand just how stupid it was for Tom Daschle to attend the premiere of this movie or for Jimmy Carter to invite Moore sit next to him at the Democratic National Convention. Any reasonably objective swing voter who had seen the movie before the election could not have been anything but astonished that leading Democrats would associate themselves so closely with the views of such a person.
