Confusion in Lebanon

Syria and Hezbollah effectively manufactured a massive counter-demonstration in Beirut. (Yes, "manufactured"; people were bused in from Syria and intelligence agents were prevalent in the crowd.) But, obviously that counter-demonstration had some effect on perceptions and momentum. What to make of all of this? As usual, Tom Friedman helps sort everything out.
